The Cinema

J wanted to see a French film. We ended up seeing something called The Dead(can't remember the French title) which ended up being an English film about family time during an obscure(to me) Scottish holiday. J and I didn't like the film. It had lots of potential but the flow of things was ruined quite a bit throughout the movie. Not sure if that was due to creative ideas or if it's due to the short story the film was based on. Maybe the movie kept close to the short story. I have no idea.

After discussing the film after it's end, we found out that each of us wanted to walk out. The movie was just boring or odd at times! The old couple behind me in the picture below absolutely LOVED the film. So much so, that they were leaning forward in their seats long after the credits began to roll. I must say due to the film's age(about 20+years) I did find myself thinking from time to time about Lorelai and Rory discussing old classics or indie films they'd see at the local movie theater :D

These red chairs were very comfortable.

I have no idea what that guy graphic on the wall is and I forgot to check when the movie was over!

On the way home, I had a nutella and almond crepe(my favorite so far) and J had a grilled panini!

We saw a bridge covered with locks from couples that hope to memorialize their love and keep it going forever.

Notre Dame was in view. I had to get this shot. It was too beautiful not to!

Once again, I did no photo editing. My phone is awesome!

If you were wondering, I have decided lately to mess around with my blog format. So sometimes, it seems like my words and pictures aren't as tidy as they used to be in previous posts. I'm just trying to break the monotony of the posts! :) I hope you don't mind!

Lastly, here is a picture of the tiniest car I've ever seen in my life. I'm not right next to it so you can't tell how small, but it's even smaller than smart cars or those cars2go cars! It was at the autoshop, getting repairs I assume. I was supposed to put that at the beginning of the post, but I forgot and just jumped right into the movie thing. :P This little guy is about 8 feet long(at the most) and comes up to a few inches under my shoulders! So,it's about 4 feet tall.

The Tour Eiffel :)

Today we decided to visit the Eiffel Tower, or Tour Eiffel, as it's called here in Paris :D Taking the stairs costs a few euros(between 2-5 I think?) and there is no wait. The elevators have waits that are 45 minutes and up! And, the higher you go on the tower, the longer the wait is! Also, the more crowded the elevator gets.  As much as it hurt walking up so many flights of stairs, it was waaaaay worth it! On our way to the tower, we just walked towards it until finally, we stumbled across it! You'd be surprised that the Eiffel Tower can get hidden behind some of the tall buildings here!(Don't forget that you can click the pictures to see bigger versions!)

                                                                                                                                When we got to the first level, we decided to take a picture of ourselves to celebrate our victory over the stairs :P I know half my face is cut off but I still really like the picture.

After spending a lot of time taking in the views, we decided to descend. It was so much more fun to go down the stairs than to go up!

A silly drawing. Throughout the way up and down the stairs, they have different graphics & statistics to amuse you, let you catch your breath while you pretend to read, etc. :P

Thankfully, we got to see the tower all lit up at night. The camera really does absolutely no justice to how gorgeous the Eiffel is at night.

For 5 minutes at 6 pm, the Tour Eiffel starts to sparkle. Once again, the picture really can't give you an idea of what it looks like, but it's better than nothing! The lights twinkle all over it's surface and as soon as they start to sparkle, you literally can hear a collective "yeaaahhh" from everyone around. It's a pretty marvelous thing to have been able to experience. Something so simple can bring lots of people so much joy :)

You might be able to look up sparkle Eiffel Tower videos online. There might be some good ones up. I'm not sure. After reveling in the wonder that is the Eiffel Tower, we decided it was time to head back. So, we shared a crepe and began our journey home. :)

Out & About

Walking around we came across a huge gardens area. It's one of the bigger gardens in Paris. Families go there to have some fun and relax :)

Here's a "mini forest" growing in a pond. I have no idea what these plants really are but they were pretty neat to see!

We found a history museum. We thought it was a green house but it was actually the history of the evolution of plants. Outside of it were these talking shoes hanging from a tree.

Next we came across a tree that has become fossilized(?) I have no idea but it feels like smooth marble or granite countertop. It was really beautiful. I tried to get a better picture but there was no room. Everyone was squished in together.

After exiting our tour of history we walked the grounds some more. We found this interesting monument:

There were alot of old buildings(maybe even old houses?) interspersed within the gardens:

This yellow tree really stood out :)

Here is another nice building with a large open area. Some kids are playing tennis or something like that. I liked the little conical trees near the back left of the picture.

This is on our way out of the gardens, which also had a zoo(but we couldn't find it's entrance).

We walked around some more and passed some nicely decorated shops:

On the way home I got a rhubarb tarte. Best tarte I've ever had!

First pictures from Paris!

We slept pretty late today! So, there are only a few pictures. We had so much fun! First we went to eat dinner at this cute little place. We really liked the way it was decorated.

Behind me are bottles of "very spicy" oil to put on your pizza. It wasn't that spicy. At first, there is no spice but then at the end, it creeps up on you but it's still not really spicy. Very delicious though!

We walked around for a while and then found somewhere to hang out! We loved the lighting and there was live music halfway through the evening. They were sitting at the table next to us for a long time and then suddenly they got up to play their music!

J ordered this drink and it came with this glowing straw! Never thought to do that before. It was a cool touch.

There was some charcoal art done directly on the cement wall behind me :)

J went to talk to one of the singers after their show was done!

And, this is me before we headed out! J thought my hat was a good place for his glowing straw :P
